Main Setup

The main setup screen is available from the home page. You can press enter or the space bar to get to the home page at anytime.

Select the options you desire and click apply. Options are not changed unless the apply button is pressed. Options on this screen allow you to configure several general program characteristics.

It is essential to set the CD ROM drive letter after installing from the internet. If this is not correct you will not be able to record or play CDs.

  • Frame - Lets you run with or without a standard resizable window frame.
  • Width and Height - If you are running with a frame, the software will remember the size and position of the window and use it the next time you run the software. If you are running without a frame you can modify the size of the window with these values. If you set these to 0, it will use the full size of the screen next time the software is started.
  • CD Rom drive letter - This must be set to match the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive or you will not be able to successfully play or record music CDs
  • CD Rip and Play Drive Number - Usually set to 0, meaning use the first physical drive on your system to play and record CDs. If you have more than one CD drive you may want to change this.
  • Color Style - Allows you to select an interface color theme.
  • Internet Connection - If set to yes, the program will access the internet to retrieve CD title and song information.
  • Lock libraries - allows you to lock the libraries so that no permanent changes can be made to your media libraries. This is useful to prevent acccidental damage to your media libraries. For example, 'party mode' where poeple unfamilar to the product may make changes accidentally.
  • CD Rip and Play Support - The abilty to Rip and Play music CDs is optional. If the Rip feature is installed this should be set to Yes. If it is set to No you will still be able to play all available MP3 files.

Music Setup

The music setup screen is available from the main setup page or the music page.

Select the options you desire and click apply. Options are not changed unless the apply button is pressed. Options on this screen allow you to configure the locations of your MP3 music files.

If you have an existing MP3 song library, it is essential that you set the MP3 Music Import Path to point to the root folder containing your songs. After applying the changes to your options you must run a refresh operation in order to have access to your music.

  • Number of Songs . . . - Lets you select the number of songs to play from each selected CD or playlist before advancing to the next item.
  • Music Store path - Folder where newly recorded CDs will be stored.
  • Music Library path - Folder where previously recorded CDs are stored. This is typically the same as the store path. However, if you have an existing SampSonic CD library on another system you can point to it here.
  • MP3 Music Import Path - If you have a collection of MP3 files that you have from other sources you can point at them here. If they are properly tagged you can use them with the SampSonic buy applying this option and performing a refresh operation.
  • Audio CD Folder - Folder location to use with the Audio CD function. You can place selected songs, playlists, or CDs into this folder. When songs are added a batch file is created that you can run to convert the MP3 files from high quality 256KB to smaller 128KB files ideal for uses with portable MP3 players.
  • Audio CD Folder Organization - Allows you to specify how music will be organized when you add songs to your configured audio CD folder.
  • Clear CD Folder - If yes, each time a group of files is copied to the Audio CD Folder the folder will be cleared first. You can manually clear the folder by pressing the Clear button on this page.

Photo Setup

The photo setup screen is available from the main setup page or the photo page.

Select the options you desire and click apply. Options are not changed unless the apply button is pressed. Options on this screen allow you to configure the locations of your Jpeg photo files.

If you have an existing Jpeg photo library, it is essential that you set the Picture Import Path to point to the root folder containing your pictures. After applying the changes to your options you must run a refresh operation in order to have access to your pictures.

The refresh operation can take a considerable amout of time the first time you run it because it will build thumbnails of all your existing pictures.

  • Number of Pictures ... - Lets you select the number of photos to show from each selected album or volume before advancing to the next selected item.
  • Photo Store path - Folder where newly captured photos will be stored.
  • Photo Library path - Folder where previously captured photos are stored. This is typically the same as the store path. However, if you have an existing SampSonic photo library on another system you can point to it here.
  • Photo Import Path - If you have a collection of photos that you have from other sources you can point at them here. You can use them with the SampSonic buy applying this option and performing a refresh operation. Only Jpeg photos are supported.
  • Photo CD Folder - Folder location to use with the Photo CD function. You can place selected pictures, albums, or volumes into this folder.
  • Photo CD Folder Organization - Allows you to specify how pictures will be organized when you add them to your configured photo CD folder.
  • Clear CD Folder - If yes, each time a group of files is copied to the Photo CD Folder the folder will be cleared first. You can manually clear the folder by pressing the Clear button on this page.
  • Photo CD quality - Allows you to specify the quality of the photos to be added to the photo CD folder. If maximum is selected, the origianl captured picture is copied. If low is selected, the smallest thumbnail is copied.
  • Max Picture Width and Height - Allows you to select the size of the highest quality thumbnail. Be default it is set to the screen size. Three thumbnails are created for each original picture, the largest is defined by these values.
